Lexington Betty and Chef Dominque Leach

If you want to indulge your Crew in some great tasting BBQ, then look no further! Lexington Betty Smokehouse, which started out as a food truck, now has three locations. This relatively new hot spot is dishing out authentic barbecue flavors throughout the city and perfecting their craft.

Owner and Chef Dominique Leach was raised in Chicago and spent most of her childhood playing basketball and baking peanut butter cookies. She comes from a large family that loves to cook big meals and spend time together. After culinary school she worked in the kitchen at The Renaissance Hotel Chicago, became a prep cook at Bon Appetit in The Art Institute Museum, and received her first Executive Chef Job at Zelda’s Kosher Catering, but eventually started her own catering company before adding the Lexington Betty Smokehouse Food truck to her repertoire, named after her Granny Betty King who is from Lexington Mississippi. Chef Dominque curated a delicious menu for all of us to enjoy and is looking forward to an interactive tasting and discussion with our Crew.

Author Michael Tyler

Michael Tyler is a freelance writer and author of the award-winning children’s book “The Skin You Live In” to promote acceptance. It first was first available in the Chicago Children’s Museum and he hopes that the book can emerge as a tool for educators and parents to try to give that lesson to their children about acceptance. He is a big man with big ambitions, likes to read dictionaries, and one day hopes to bake a cookie for everyone in the world. Michael will have a fun interactive discussion with our Crew about his book and the important differences that we see in people.
