The Crew is traveling to Africa! Ethiopia to be exact. And we’re excited to journey to Demera, considered one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in the city.

At Demera Ethiopian Restaurant they serve traditional Ethiopian cuisine using only the freshest, high quality, and authentic ingredients. Chef Tigist is passionate about bringing delicious, authentic Ethiopian cuisine to Chicago. All entrees are served family style and traditionally eaten by hand using Injera (Ethiopian flat bread), which comes either served wheat or gluten-free. In Ethiopia, dining is treated as a ritual and Food is considered sacred (especially Injera), therefore kids will learn the importance of following traditional Ethiopian culture and the appropriate way to enjoy this ethnic cuisine.

Demera opened to the public 10 years ago and Tigist, the owner, operator and Executive Chef, was born and raised in Ethiopia before coming to the United States. Many of Demera’s staff members are from Ethiopia as well and are fluent in as many as five different languages. The majority of the art work in Demera comes from Ethiopia and depicts several prominent locations there. Demera has been featured in several publications, such as Eater and the Michelin guide. We’re excited to share this amazing experience with you!
